The Role
Network Steel is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety systems across our operations.
Based full-time at our Cleveland QLD site, working across various site, you will play a key role in embedding a strong, accountable safety culture while ensuring effective risk management and compliance across the business.
Reporting to the Head of HR & Safety, you will partner closely with leaders to strengthen safety capability, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our people go home safe to their families every day.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Systems Design & Continuous Improvement
- Design, implement, and continuously improve integrated safety management systems
- Establish standards, procedures, and controls aligned with operational risk profiles
- Monitor system effectiveness through audits, data analysis, and feedback loops
Safety Culture & Leadership Development
- Develop and implement initiatives that build a proactive and high-performing safety culture
- Coach and mentor leaders to strengthen safety capability and accountability
- Promote visible leadership and engagement across all levels
Incident Management & Risk Oversight
- Oversee incident management processes including reporting, investigation, and corrective actions
- Support and guide leaders to ensure quality and consistency in investigations
- Analyse incident trends and risk data to inform preventative strategies
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant OHS/WHS legislation and standards
- Manage audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
- Provide expert advice on compliance obligations and organisational risk
Key Criteria
Essential:
- Proven experience in safety management systems design and implementation
- Strong knowledge of OHS/WHS legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and develop leaders at all levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Experience in incident investigation and risk management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable:
- Experience within construction, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments
- Experience working across operational environments
