Saint Stephen’s College is seeking a skilled and solutions-focused Venue Operations and Technical Manager to help deliver engaging, meaningful and memorable performances and events across the College.
This position manages AV, lighting, sound and venue operations, supports staff, guest speakers and
student tech crews, and helps drive safe, professional and industry-standard event experiences across the College.
The Opportunity
- Ongoing permanent full-time position
- Using significant judgement and discretion to provide technical and operational support across AV and LX for events such as guest speaker presentations, information evenings,
assemblies, chapels, musicals, concerts and whole-of-College events and formal evening
activities.
- Work collaboratively across Performing Arts, IT, Events and Marketing
- Organise, train and lead the Junior and Senior College Tech Crews and trainees to assist in sound, lighting and backstage operations.
- Manage the regular maintenance and upgrade of audio-visual technologies in College venues and spaces and liaise with external professionals in related areas for maintaining an inventory of stock/equipment; providing reports on faulty equipment to ensure hazards are eliminated, and overseeing that replacement and repairs are carried out effectively.
- Provide input into Safe Working Method Statements and Risk Assessments to mitigate risk around the use and operation of technical equipment and show specific processes.
- Enjoy a varied, hands-on role that requires some flexibility to work evenings and weekends as
required
Who We Are Looking For
- A proactive, hands-on approach with confidence and the ability to work independently with technical equipment and systems in a busy independent College environment
- Strong knowledge of audio-visual systems, lighting, projection, and show control systems including experience working with contractors and external suppliers to support event delivery.
- Ability to program and operate QLAB, Mainstage, Black Magic AV and MA Lighting and an understanding of Dante Networking, Allen and Heath, Yamaha and Beringer Consoles as well as Pro Tools and Pro Presenter software.
- ·Experience in inventory or equipment coordination (AV or technical environment preferred) including strong administrative, budgeting and
record-keeping skills.
Mandatory Clearances/Certifications
- Blue Card, in accordance with ‘No Card, No Link, No Start’, as per the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
- Current First Aid qualification (or the ability to obtain first aid qualification)
