Description

Reporting directly to the CEO and operating as a key member of the Club Leadership Team, the part time (4 days pw) Head of Memberships & Communities is responsible for the end‑to‑end management of memberships, member experience, boating communities, sailing operations, office administration and concierge services.

You will play a pivotal role in strengthening member engagement, leading diverse teams, and ensuring our communities and programs are well‑governed, safe, compliant and financially sustainable.

Responsibilities:

    Memberships & Communities

    • Act as the key contact for our seven boating communities, including Sail Racing, Sail Cruising, Cruising, Mini Mariners, Game Fishing, Top Hat and Timber & Classic Boating
    • Oversee governance, administration and communication across boating community committees
    • Drive engagement initiatives that build participation and a strong sense of community

    Sailing & On‑Water Programs

    • Provide leadership oversight of sailing and on‑water programs through the Sailing Coordinator
    • Ensure sailing and junior programs are delivered safely and in line with Australian Sailing and Club requirements
    • Support continuous improvement across volunteer coordination and participant experience

    Events & Engagement

    • Lead and oversee major Club and community events including regattas, cruising events, festivals, tournaments and presentation dinners
    • Ensure effective planning, delivery, risk management and safety compliance across all events
    • Collaborate with Marketing to support membership engagement and campaigns

    Office Administration & Concierge

    • Provide strategic leadership across office administration and concierge services
    • Ensure exceptional front‑of‑house service for members and guests
    • Drive efficient systems, processes and workflows that support the broader Club operations

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in senior membership, community, hospitality, sport or club based leadership roles.
  • Strong people leadership, stakeholder engagement and operational management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and planning capability.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of boating, sailing or member-based organisations is desirable.
