We’re a family-run business, deeply rooted in values that span generations. As we expand, we’re looking for a Machinery Manager to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms.

The Machinery Manager is responsible for the day-to-day performance, reliability and optimisation of all packaging line machinery, ensuring smooth, efficient and safe production outcomes across packhouse operations.

This role plays a critical part in keeping production moving—overseeing equipment functionality, troubleshooting issues in real time, and working closely with the packaging shed management team to ensure packaging lines run at peak efficiency.

With a strong focus on operational excellence, the position leads machinery performance, preventative maintenance coordination and continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime and maximise output quality.

Drawing on hands-on experience in plant machinery and production environments, the Machinery Manager ensures all equipment is operating safely, effectively and in line with production targets, while supporting the team on the floor to deliver consistent results.

Key operational accountabilities include:

  • Manage the packing line via an effective and proactive supervisory presence to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Liaise with the quality control officer on a day to day basis to ensure the correct quality standards are met
  • Set and control the operation of the MAF operating system to obtain accurate performance which meet specifications and packing instructions
  • Have full knowledge of all the protocols that must be met for domestic and export fruit, and check the packing instructions, labelling (cartons, crates, and pallets) and traceability systems match the requirements for those markets
  • Control fruit inputs with the forklift driver
  • Liaise with the designated chemical supervisor to ensure that effective and timely monitoring and management of all line functions are carried out in a timely manner
  • Perform pack house staff training as requested by management
  • Assist in the management of all packing lines as required by shed management
  • Have a full understanding of the traceability system
  • Ensure the fruit label applicators are functioning to their full potential and general maintenance when required

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience working with production machinery, ideally within a packhouse, food processing or similar fast-paced environment
  • Proven experience in running and optimising packaging lines to meet production targets
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues efficiently
  • Demonstrated experience in preventative maintenance practices and improving equipment reliability
  • Ability to work collaboratively with production teams and take direction from management
  • Strong commitment to safety and maintaining a compliant, hazard-free work environment
  • Solid organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and adapt in a dynamic production setting
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to support and guide team members on the floor

In return we offer you:

  • An attractive remuneration package based upon relevant experience.
  • A passionate and energetic team culture.
  • Become a part of a progressive, vibrant business.
