WHO ARE WE?

The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation (‘BCF’) is one of Sydney’s most trusted frontline charities and has been supporting the community for nearly 40 years. Our mission is to address homelessness and hardship by providing essential services including food social welfare healthcare education and community programs.

Our Social Health and Wellbeing (‘SHW’) team is often the first point of contact for individuals facing complex and multiple challenges. The team provides a broad range of assistance from crisis intervention and short-term case management to medical dental and complementary healthcare support.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a friendly and organised Triage Medical Receptionist to join our team. You’ll be the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking support, helping create a calm, safe, and welcoming environment. Your role will be to guide clients to the right internal and external services while making them feel supported and understood.

This position is available immediately and offers part-time or casual hours with flexibility. You’ll need to be available for a minimum of two days per week, with typical hours from 8:00am to 4:00pm. We can tailor the schedule for the right candidate. You’ll work alongside a dedicated, supportive team and play an important role in helping clients access timely care.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As our Triage Medical Receptionist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting and supporting clients in person and over the phone with empathy and professionalism.
  • Conducting triage and booking appointments, connecting clients with the right internal or external services.
  • Accurately maintaining client information and enquiry notes across multiple systems (training provided).
  • Managing and organising documents, and assisting with general email correspondence.
  • Ensuring the reception area is calm, safe, and welcoming for clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Escalating clients in crisis to the appropriate BCF team member or external provider.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You are a compassionate, confident communicator who stays calm under pressure and helps others feel reassured. You can manage competing priorities while ensuring every client has a positive experience.

You’ll also bring:

  • Experience in medical administration, triage, or reception (community or healthcare settings preferred).
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to support people in vulnerable situations.
  • A respectful, non-judgemental, person-centred approach.
  • Good multitasking and prioritisation skills in a busy environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills, with attention to detail in data entry and record keeping.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Awareness of community support services is a bonus but not essential.
