Project Officer – Community Garden (Hands‑On, Community Focused)

Are you passionate about working hands‑on, supporting people, and building something meaningful in your community?

We’re looking for a Project Officer to lead a Community Garden project, supporting participants through practical skill development, mentoring and real‑world work experience.

About the role

This role is all about doing, teaching and supporting. You’ll work directly with participants in our community garden, helping them build transferable skills that support longer‑term employment outcomes.

You will:

  • Supervise and upskill
  • Deliver daily, hands‑on activities in the garden
  • Provide mentoring, encouragement and practical training
  • Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive and culturally respectful
  • Coordinate project activities aligned with RAES program objectives

Funding is secured until 30 June 2027.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering practical, supervised skills development in a community garden setting
  • Leading garden maintenance, workshops and project activities
  • Conducting safety inductions and ensuring WHS compliance
  • Building strong relationships with participants and community stakeholders
  • Completing basic reporting and activity planning
  • Supporting participant wellbeing and employability outcomes

What we’re looking for

  • Practical skills (gardening, trade, maintenance, hospitality or similar)
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or training others
  • Strong WHS awareness and safety‑first mindset
  • Great communication and people skills
  • Ability to work outdoors and lead by example
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
  • Clear National Police Check (required)

Desirable but not essential:

  • Cert IV Training & Assessment
  • Trade qualification
  • First Aid certification
  • Experience in employment or community programs
