About the program:
The National Redress Scheme provides support to people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse. The scheme acknowledges that many children were sexual abuse in Australian institutions and recognises the suffering they endure because of this abuse. The Redress team helps those who have experienced abuse gain access to counselling, a direct personal response, and a Redress payment.

Position Purpose:
This position is critical to the effective and efficient delivery of the Redress Support Service, providing support to people who were sexually abused as children while in the care of an institution.
The Redress Case Worker role is responsible for engaging with the community and providing trauma-based counselling and or crisis interventions to individuals who are engaging with the National Redress Scheme.
The Opportunity:
• This position is full-time, Cairns based with regular travel to remote communities across Cape York, Torres Strait, Cairns and surrounding areas.
• Provide confidential support for survivors in a culturally safe service in line with redress support service manual.
• Provide emotional and practical support with empathy, confidentiality, and sensitivity, ensuring victim-survivors feel supported and empowered.
About You:
• Have knowledge of the National Redress Scheme and the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
• Ensure individuals of the scheme are provided with support to complete the Redress forms so they may access the scheme, using a trauma-informed practices.
• Provide Redress scheme information via face-to-face sessions, outreach services and telephone/ online support to people in Cape York and rural areas of Far North Queensland.
• Maintain confidentiality, privacy, and duty of care, in all matters relating to individuals, staff and RAATSIC procedures.
• Work sensitively with the target group, people who have experienced sexual abuse as children (under the aged of 18 years) in institutional contexts before the commencement of the scheme
• Perform position responsibilities in accordance with the Redress Support Services manual
