The Opportunity
The Production Manager is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and operational oversight to the production team at Snowy River Caravans. This role plays a key part in driving efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and creating continuous improvement within the manufacturing process. The Production Manager will ensure smooth day-to-day operations by overseeing production schedules, workflow optimisation, and staff development while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. Working closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, this role will contribute to the company’s long-term growth and success by implementing best practices, driving process improvements, and supporting the professional development of both experienced and new production staff.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
Production Management & Operational Efficiency
- Actively drive 5S production efficiency and productivity to ensure production KPI’s are achieved
- Oversee daily production operations, ensuring output meets quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Implement and monitor production schedules to maximise resource utilisation
- Identify and resolve production blockages, inefficiencies, and technical challenges
- Optimise workflow processes to reduce downtime and increase output
- Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of production equipment to minimise disruptions
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching to production staff, creating a high-performance culture
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance skills and efficiency across the production team
- Encourage teamwork and communication across all production departments
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement staff development plans to support career growth
- Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure strict adherence to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations and company policies
- Contribute to improving the safety and environmental culture through active leadership, participation, and compliance with safety initiatives
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failure and safety risks
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
Process Improvement & Quality Control
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain high product standards and compliance with industry regulations
- Lead problem-solving initiatives to address defects, inefficiencies, and operational challenges
- Utilise data-driven decision-making to implement process improvements and optimise production performance
Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with senior management to align production strategies with company goals
- Collaborate with planning, design, warranty, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production processes and product quality
- Communicate with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components
- Provide regular production reports and updates to key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and data-driven decision-making
What we are looking for
- Previous people management experience and skills including conflict resolution is crucial
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft products: Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Safety conscientious, ALWAYS
- Experience in the Caravan industry is highly desirable
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, no job is too big
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Loves to work in a team
- Organising, prioritising, and meeting deadlines is your forte
- Valid driver’s license
