REFOCUS is seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to be in a rewarding journey in community or health work. No prior experience is needed—just the right attitude, a passion for community, and a willingness to try on our way of working alongside mob.

What You’ll Receive:

Interview Experience:

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a group interview day held at:

  • REFOCUS North Lakes Office (Moreton Bay)

This day will be about getting to know each other, spending time with our Senior Team, and seeing if this opportunity is the right fit for you.

Each participant will receive a $100 voucher upon completing the day.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Shadow, learn and assist practitioners with engaging families, obtaining consent and developing a case plan in conjunction with the family which addresses unmet needs and child protection concerns
  • Shadow, learn and assist practitioners to support the compilation of initial assessments when required, and to ensure that plans are in place for the family and that these are progressed and regularly reviewed in line with service procedures
  • To ensure that the families’ voice is heard and that their views and feelings inform such plans
  • Shadow, learn and assist practitioners to create assessments and the formulation of plans for families and, when required, to prepare and present reports about their work in stakeholder meetings
  • Shadow, learn and assist practitioners to facilitating social learning, community connectedness, good health and wellbeing programs
  • Shadow, learn and assist practitioners to contribute to a range of interventions designed to prevent family breakdown and to divert children and young people from care, and contribute to assessments to inform future external referrals to other services
  • Shadow, learn and assist practitioners to undertake direct work with parents/carers with regard to daily tasks (eg cooking, cleaning, budget management) and parenting skills (eg basic care routines, attachment, play, stimulation, managing challenging behavior, etc) designed to improve the quality of life for children and young people and improving parenting. This work to be undertaken on a one-to-one basis and/or through group work.
  • Shadow, learn and assist practitioners in the medical center, Gunyah of Wellness
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence
