Senior Bookkeeper (Part-Time – 4 Days per Week) Red Hill / Seaford
Numbers are your love language. You find satisfaction in a perfectly reconciled account the way others find it in a sunset. You’re the person who catches the error nobody else saw, who has the payroll done before anyone thought to ask, and who quietly keeps the whole financial engine running without missing a beat. That’s who we need.
About Red Gum BBQ
Red Gum BBQ was born in 2013 out of a love for authentic American Southern BBQ — and we’ve never done anything by halves since. We’re Australia’s first B Corp restaurant, which means we’re serious about people, purpose and planet, not just the bottom line. In 2023 we grew into The Southern Family — spanning two venues, a food manufacturing business, and a quick service restaurant.
About the Role
This isn’t a heads-down, do-the-basics bookkeeping role. You’ll be the financial backbone of our business – the person our Managing Director relies on to know exactly where we stand, what’s coming, and what needs attention. You’ll work closely with our owners and our external accountants, and you’ll own the numbers end-to-end.
What that looks like day to day:
Full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple entities in Xero – clean, accurate, unquestionable
Payroll processing and management via Employment Hero
Accounts payable and receivable, supplier payments and reconciliations
BAS preparation and lodgement, and broader compliance obligations
Cash flow tracking and financial reporting that actually tells a story
Bringing fresh eyes to our systems and processes and making them better
About You
You’ve done this before – properly. You’ve managed the books of a business with real complexity and you know what good looks like. You bring:
Significant bookkeeping experience, ideally in hospitality, food & beverage, or multi-entity small business
Expert-level Xero skills (Employment Hero experience a bonus)
Payroll confidence – you don’t need hand-holding here
The kind of precision that means your numbers are never questioned
A proactive mindset – you flag problems before they become problems
Discretion and trust – you’ll have access to sensitive financial information and that’s not something we take lightly
A genuine interest in being part of something – we’re a tight team and we want someone who cares
What We Offer
Part-time (4 days per week) with genuine flexibility working across our Red Hill & Seaford locations
A business that’s growing, which means this role grows with it
Direct access to ownership — your work genuinely shapes decisions
A stunning Red Hill base with some sojourn time in Seaford and a team that actually enjoys coming to work
The chance to put your stamp on the financial systems of a business doing something worth doing
If your books are always right, your deadlines always met, and you’re ready to be the financial heartbeat of a business that matters, we’d love to hear from you.
