Contracts Advisor

The Contracts Advisor supports the Contracts Superintendent in all aspects of contract administration, claims management, variations, and dispute support. This is a hands-on role that ensures day-to-day contract obligations are met, risks are managed, and contractors comply with terms.

This role is being offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with contract administration: tracking contract deliverables, compliance, notices, change orders
  • Prepare, review, and process variation orders and claims documentation
  • Assist with assessment of progress claims, extension of time submissions, retentions
  • Support negotiations with contractors on variational claims, claims resolution
  • Monitor contractor performance, flag deviations or non-compliance
  • Maintain contract records, registers, correspondence logs
  • Support periodic contract reporting (status, claim exposure, variation summaries)
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, project leads) to interpret contract obligations
  • Conduct contract audits to ensure compliance with policies and identify risk
  • Participate in lessons-learned and continuous improvement of contract templates, procedures
  • Provide guidance to project-level contract owners where needed

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Commerce, Engineering, Construction or related
  • 3–5 years of contract administration / contract advisory experience (ideally in heavy industry / construction / mining)
  • Familiarity with standard contract forms (e.g. AS4000, AS2124, NEC or equivalent)
  • Strong writing, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Good stakeholder interface skills
