What you’ll do

The primary objective of this new role is to drive best practice quality assurance into the business, with flow on benefits to the existing operation.

The key accountabilities of this position will be:

• Oversee daily operations and provide supervision of and guidance to team members in the wagon manufacturing team

• Ensure production targets, schedules and deadlines are met

• Conduct scheduled internal audits across operations, engineering and maintenance, monitoring compliance and reporting on finding, trends and risks

• Quality control and inspection activities

• Manage non-conformance reporting (NCR) and resolution processes

• Track NCRs, investigate root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented

• Maintenance and improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS)

• Assist with supplier assessments, evaluation of vendor documentation and incoming materials inspections as well as monitoring supplier performance

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce defects and optimise workflows

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality ownership, providing guidance to supervisors, trades, engineers, and operational teams on quality requirements and documentation

• Prepare quality reports, audit summaries, NCR status updates, and trend analyses

• Ensure adherence to all applicable WHS&E requirements and rail industry regulations and standards

What you’ll bring

To enable success in the role you will have:

• Experience working in a quality assurance, compliance, auditing or a documentation-focused role within manufacturing, rail, engineering or a similar technical environment.

• Experience conducting or supporting internal audits, inspections or compliance checks

• Proven ability to manage non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement activities

• Experience working with technical documentation such as engineering drawings, specifications and procedures

• Internal Auditor qualification or willingness to obtain it within 6-12 months

• Attention to detail, accuracy and consistency

• Ability to build co-operative relationships with production, engineering and maintenance teams

• High level of organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

• A proactive approach to identifying problems and driving improvements

• Ability to work independently, follow processes and maintain accountability

Experience in ICAM investigations or similar methodology would be desirable.
