Our flagship initiative, QLD Music Trails, launched in 2023 with a bold vision: to transform Queensland’s extraordinary landscapes into world-class music destinations and build a lasting cultural legacy towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In 2026, QMF will deliver more than 15 events for live audiences of over 15,000 people. To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Communications Manager to help shape and share the story of QMF and QLD Music Trails.
About the Opportunity
As the Communications Manager, you will play a key role in shaping how QMF and QLD Music Trails are seen and understood, leading our communications, content and PR activity across festivals, trails and organisational storytelling.
Working closely with the GM Marketing & Brand and the Marketing Campaigns Manager, you’ll help shape narrative and messaging, manage media and PR activity, and guide the delivery of our annual communications approach and high-quality content that reflects QMF’s values, ambition and impact.
This is a hands-on role with strategic scope, suited to a communications professional ready to take ownership and influence in a fast-paced organisation where arts and cultural tourism intersect.
You’ll work with a high degree of autonomy and play an important role in ensuring communications support audience growth, stakeholder confidence and organisational priorities, including fundraising campaigns.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead QMF:QLD Music Trails communications, PR and brand narrative, working with leadership and external agencies
- Develop, deliver and evaluate strategic communications plans aligned to organisational priorities
- Oversee high-quality content and publications across digital, print, owned and earned channels
- Support campaign delivery in partnership with the Marketing Campaigns Manager
- Deliver stakeholder, executive and internal communications initiatives
- Provide strategic communications advice and issues support to leadership

About You
You’re a confident, thoughtful communicator who understands the power of story, reputation and trust. You’re comfortable operating with autonomy, enjoy collaborating with others, and can move between strategy and delivery with ease. You’ll bring:
- Experience across communications, PR, media and content (arts, events, cultural or not-for-profit sectors highly regarded)
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with an understanding of brand, narrative and audience-led communications
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines calmly and effectively
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- A proactive, curious and solutions-focused mindset
- Ability to travel and work weekends during the QLD Music Trails calendar of events
Tools & Experience (Desirable)
- CMS platforms (WordPress or similar)
- CRM systems (HubSpot or similar)
- Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) and scheduling software
- Project management tools such as Asana or Airtable
