The Q, a new state of the art greyhound racing facility in Purga, 4306, situated on the outskirts of Ipswich. The facility includes 3 separate racetracks, a community club complete with a 350 seat restaurant, sports bar, a gaming room with 60 machines and a kids club.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead and develop our kitchen team. Head Chef is responsible for managing all kitchen activities, including menu planning, food preparation, and staff management. This is a hands-on leadership role, as 2ic to the Executive Chef, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our venue’s food offerings.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 38 hours per week, with a flexible and rotating roster covering Monday to Sunday
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Plan and manage day-to-day kitchen operations
- Support with menu develop and creating new dishes
- Oversee food preparation, ensuing it is presented to high standards
- Monitor food inventory levels and stock rotation
- Support with managing kitchen team, including rostering, training and inductions.
- Ensure kitchen is clean, safe, and orderly at all times
- Provide leadership to kitchen team
Qualifications & Experience
- Formal qualification in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in similar role
- Proven experience in high-volume kitchen operations, with strong leadership, team management, and cost control skills.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation methods, techniques and current culinary trends
- Understanding of food cost analysis and inventory management systems.
- Experience with rostering software and labour cost management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays
