About the Role

The Fleet Sustainment Specialist is responsible for the planning, monitoring, and coordination of sustainment activities across the Small Uncrewed Aerial System (SUAS) fleet to ensure aircraft availability, reliability, and compliance with contractual requirements. 

 This role supports the Fleet Manager by maintaining accurate fleet status visibility, coordinating maintenance planning, tracking configuration changes, and analysing fleet performance data to optimise fleet serviceability.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Coordinate scheduled preventative maintenance activities for SUAS platforms and associated support equipment. 
  • Coordinate unscheduled maintenance activities in collaboration with maintenance personnel and engineering teams. 
  • Track maintenance cycles, inspection intervals, and service requirements across the fleet. 
  • Ensure maintenance planning aligns with operational tasking requirements and program schedules. 
  • Monitor progress of maintenance activities and ensure timely completion to maintain fleet readiness. 
  • Develop and maintain fleet maintenance schedules to support operational readiness and contractual availability requirements.
  • Track hardware and software configurations to ensure compliance with approved system baselines.
  • Coordinate implementation of approved modifications, upgrades, and engineering changes across the fleet.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Formal qualifications in Aviation Maintenance Management or related technical discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in fleet management, maintenance planning or sustainment operations within the Defence, Aerospace or Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) industry.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex maintenance programs/projects for manned or unmanned aerial platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical updates and fleet status reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Australian Citizenship and ability to hold a Baseline Security Clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience working with maintenance management systems or ERP platforms. 
  • Knowledge and experience in configuration management practices for aerospace platforms. 
  • Experience supporting Defence sustainment programs and understanding of Commonwealth contracting frameworks. 
  • Knowledge of the ASDEFCON suite of contracting documents and Commonwealth procurement practices.
