Public Skills Australia (PSA) has been appointed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as one of 10 Jobs and Skills Councils. PSA works with employer and employee representatives from the Public Safety and Government industry-sectors – Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Correctional Services, Defence, and all levels of Government – to ensure Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system delivers better outcomes for learners and employers. A primary function of PSA is to provide workforce planning, industry intelligence and training product development in support of industry needs and government priorities.

These two positions will work closely together with significant crossover between the roles. We encourage applicants with skill sets across either role to apply.

Both positions are accountable to the Manager Training Promotion and Implementation.

The Communications Officer (Content) will play a key role in developing and implementing communications initiatives across PSA. This includes creating high-quality content for print, digital and social media platforms, developing communication materials in collaboration with staff, and maintaining branding and style guidelines.

The position is responsible for:

• developing and delivering engaging written, digital, and social media content.

• ensuring PSA’s communications meet branding and style standards.

• supporting staff with development of communication materials and campaigns.

• monitoring and evaluate the effectiveness of communications initiatives.

• working collaboratively to enhance PSA’s public profile and stakeholder engagement.

The Communications Officer (Technical) will focus on the development, review and maintenance of PSA’s technical content, including website updates, stakeholder communication tools, data presentations and digital assets. The role supports the delivery of clear, accurate and accessible communications across a range of technical and industry-focused audiences.

The position is responsible for:

• maintaining and updating website and digital communication platforms

• developing and reviewing technical content and stakeholder communication tools

• preparing and presenting data in accessible and engaging formats

• supporting online engagement strategies and digital resources

• ensuring consistency and accuracy of PSA’s technical communications

• Creating video content

For both positions we are seeking applicants with demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills. They will have the ability to work on and balance multiple priorities with different line managers alongside developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They should have a demonstrated ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and work in a dynamic team environment.
