Senior Primary Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Primary Engineer to join our growing Power Systems Design (PSD Energy) team in Adelaide. PSD Energy is a specialised engineering function focused on the design and delivery of high-voltage power systems that underpin Australia’s evolving energy landscape.

Our team plays a critical role in enabling grid reliability, network upgrades, and renewable energy integration, working across complex transmission and substation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HV primary systems (AIS/GIS substations, transmission infrastructure)
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables including:
• Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
• General Arrangements (GAs)
• Equipment layouts and specifications
• Deliver projects across concept, FEED, and detailed design phases
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (secondary, civil, protection, commissioning)
• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with Australian standards and utility requirements
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers
• Engage with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders

About You

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 8+ years’ experience in HV primary engineering (utilities, consulting, or EPC)
• Proven experience in substation and/or transmission design (66kV–500kV)
• Strong understanding of HV plant, earthing, and insulation coordination
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
