About the Role
We are seeking a Design Engineer (Distribution) to join our PSD Energy team on a 12-month
fixed-term contract.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, split between our Melbourne office and the client’s
Market Street office, providing strong collaboration with both internal teams and client stakeholders.
You will be responsible for delivering underground distribution, sub-transmission, and indoor substation designs, supporting projects from concept through to construction in a dynamic, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver detailed design for underground distribution networks, including sub-transmission and
substation interfaces
• Prepare and review construction drawings, SLDs, layouts, and technical specifications
• Undertake scoping, cost estimating, and design planning for network projects
• Provide technical advice ensuring compliance with Safety in Design, OH&S, and regulatory
standards
• Verify and validate designs, including third-party and manufacturer drawings
• Support project delivery through design reviews, construction support, and issue resolution
• Maintain accurate asset data, system records, and documentation
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure timely and high-quality
outcomes
• Identify opportunities for design optimisation, efficiency, and continuous improvement
About You
• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in underground distribution and/or substation design
• Knowledge of network standards, design processes, and construction methods
• Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, or similar design systems
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes
