With continued growth across Australia, we are seeking a Generalist Solicitor to support our national operations with practical, commercially focused legal advice.
Your Role
Reporting to senior leadership, the Generalist Solicitor will provide day‑to‑day legal support across multiple practice areas, working closely with operations, HR, risk, and governance functions.
You will play a key role in supporting compliance, managing risk, and enabling PHSA to deliver safe, ethical, and effective services across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide generalist legal advice across PHSA’s national operations
- Support compliance with Australian privacy and data protection obligations
- Assist with cyber security, data governance, and data breach response
- Draft, review, and advise on employment contracts, policies, and contractor agreements
- Provide legal support in relation to workers compensation, injury management, and return‑to‑work obligations
- Assist with employment relations matters, disputes, and regulatory interactions
- Support governance, risk management, and policy development activities
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes relevant to healthcare, employment, and insurance schemes
About You
- Admitted Australian legal practitioner with a recognised law degree
- Experience working as a generalist solicitor, either in‑house or in private practice
- Working knowledge of:
- Employment law and workplace relations
- Privacy and data protection legislation
- Workers compensation and injury management frameworks
- Regulatory and compliance obligations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Practical, solution‑focused approach to legal risk
- Comfortable working autonomously within a supportive national framework
- Direct experience working within the Health sector (desirable)
