Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Rehabilitation Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expert assessment, planning, and implementation of rehabilitation programs for patients recovering from injury, illness, or surgery. The Rehabilitation Specialist will work collaboratively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to maximise functional recovery and enhance overall quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs to determine appropriate rehabilitation goals and interventions.
  • Develop and implement individualised rehabilitation plans, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities, to promote optimal recovery and functional independence.
  • Provide direct rehabilitation services, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and the use of assistive devices and equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients’ progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes and address any emerging needs.
  • Educate patients and their families on rehabilitation techniques, home exercises, and strategies for managing recovery and preventing future injuries.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and medical professionals, to ensure integrated and comprehensive care.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and patient outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies related to rehabilitation services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in rehabilitation care.
  • Provide support and training to junior staff and students as required, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or a related field; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency for physiotherapists).
  • Proven experience in rehabilitation services, preferably within a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, assessment methods, and evidence-based practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on achieving optimal rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload in a dynamic environment.
