Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physiotherapist (Aged Care) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expert physiotherapy services to elderly residents, helping to improve their mobility, strength, and overall quality of life. The Physiotherapist will work closely with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement tailored rehabilitation and wellness programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ physical capabilities, mobility, and functional needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised physiotherapy treatment plans based on assessment findings and residents’ goals.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including exercises, manual therapy, and assistive device recommendations, to enhance residents’ physical function and independence.
  • Monitor and evaluate residents’ progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on physiotherapy techniques, injury prevention, and strategies for maintaining mobility and independence.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, and occupational therapists, to coordinate care and address complex needs.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and organisational policies related to physiotherapy practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in physiotherapy and aged care.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior physiotherapists and students as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent; Master’s degree in Physiotherapy or a related field preferred.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Physiotherapist.
  • Proven experience in physiotherapy, preferably within an aged care or geriatric setting.
  • Strong knowledge of physiotherapy techniques, assessment methods, and treatment modalities relevant to aged care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on improving residents’ physical function and quality of life.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload in a dynamic environment.
