Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and liver. The Gastroenterologist will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed assessments and evaluations of patients with gastrointestinal and liver disorders, including obtaining medical histories and conducting physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of GI conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and colorectal cancer.
  • Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures, including endoscopies, colonoscopies, and biopsies, to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Develop and implement personalised treatment plans, including pharmacological management, lifestyle modifications, and surgical referrals when necessary.
  • Provide patient education on GI conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures, ensuring that patients and their families are well-informed and engaged in their care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, and other specialists, to ensure integrated and comprehensive care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients’ progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to optimise outcomes and address any emerging issues.
  • Stay current with advancements in gastroenterology and incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical care.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies related to gastroenterology and patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Specialist.
  • Board certification or fellowship in Gastroenterology preferred.
  • Extensive experience in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal and liver disorders, with a strong background in performing diagnostic procedures.
  • Excellent clinical skills, with the ability to interpret complex diagnostic results and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of advancements in the field of gastroenterology.
