Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced clinical expertise and leadership in a specialised area of nursing. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes, develop and implement best practices, and provide education and support to nursing staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical care and consultation in a specialised area, such as cardiology, oncology, or wound management, ensuring high standards of patient care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose and manage complex patient conditions, and develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care, including coordinating treatment plans and facilitating communication between healthcare providers.
  • Lead and participate in the development and implementation of evidence-based practices, clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide education and training to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on best practices, new techniques, and advancements in the specialised area.
  • Mentor and support junior nurses, promoting professional development and competency in the clinical specialty.
  • Conduct research and contribute to scholarly activities to advance knowledge and practice within the specialised area.
  • Participate in the evaluation and review of patient outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance care quality.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies and standards.
  • Advocate for patients and their families, addressing their needs and concerns with compassion and professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent; Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Advanced clinical experience and expertise in a specialised area of nursing.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications or certification in the clinical specialty.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices, clinical guidelines, and quality improvement methods.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to provide clinical education, mentorship, and support to nursing staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on improving patient outcomes.
