Job overview
As a Startup Accountant (Junior CFO) at Planet Startup, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial needs of our innovative founders and startup clients. You’ll have the opportunity to WFH, collaborating with a team of experienced professionals and helping startups on their journey to success. This role is ideal for an accounting or finance professional with more than 2 years of professional experience, strong financial modelling skills, general accounting knowledge, and a genuine passion for the world of startups.
Key responsibilities
Working with founders
• Work with real clients from day #1 – our founders need you!
• Assist clients with their internal finance function, including bookkeeping, financial modelling and management report preparation,
• Collaborate with clients to identify and implement financial process improvements, and work with your CFO to help our clients increase their performance.
Working with financial data
• Manage and reconcile financial data using Xero accounting software, ensuring accuracy and compliance,
• Prepare and analyse financial models & management reports, providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making
Working with our team
• Work as part of a high performing team providing exceptional client service to the most aspirational founders in Australia,
• Contribute to the culture of our company, and have a stake in our success,
• Contribute to the growth and success of both Planet Startup and our clients.
About You
Minimum Qualifications
You’ll thrive as our newest Startup Accountant (Junior CFO) if you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, finance, or a related field,
• 2+ years professional experience working with or for early stage, high growth SaaS companies,
• A genuine interest in and/or passion for startups
Nice to have Qualifications
• Experience working with Xero, Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools,
• General accounting experience and experience in commercial decision making,
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
• Highly organised and detail-oriented,
• Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining a high level of productivity, and
• Enthusiastic, adaptable, and a team player
