This 18-month fixed term role has been created to help address the increasing complex reporting requirements of our major clients and key internal stakeholders. Subject to the results and progress made over the fixed term period, the business may elect to make this a permanent ongoing position.
About the role
We’re seeking a Melbourne based Reporting & Data Specialist to review our reporting needs, assess our broad set of data structures and develop a systemised reporting approach to deliver
accurate, automated and trusted reporting for key clients and internal stakeholders.
You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering repeatable, systemised data extraction and reporting solutions — moving the business away from manual processes and toward best‑practice
analytics using Power BI and SQL. You’ll also play an important role in supporting broader strategic projects, including the adoption of AI‑enabled capabilities.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys working deep in data but also thrives on collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities for this unique role include:
- Design, build and maintain automated reporting solutions using SQL and Power BI (or equivalent reporting tools)
- Map and document reporting requirements across finance, operations and client reporting (in collaboration with internal subject matter experts)
- Extract, transform and store data as required from multiple enterprise systems into an existing data warehouse.
- Implement robust validation, reconciliation and error‑checking processes
- Supporting the delivery of accurate, client‑ready reports within agreed timeframes
- Act as the internal “reporting champion” who can train and support team members to make effective use the reporting tools developed
- Contribute to strategic business initiatives, including data and AI‑related projects
About you
You’re a structured problem‑solver who enjoys working proactively with key stakeholders whilst also being able to effectively work autonomously.
Essential experience:
- Strong, hands‑on SQL capability (complex joins, transformations, aggregations)
- Advanced Power BI skills (or other equivalent reporting tools), including:
- – Data modelling and relationships
- – DAX measures and variance analysis
- – Client‑ready report visualisation
- Experience integrating data from multiple enterprise systems, including data warehouse management
- Exposure to Azure‑hosted data platforms
- Strong understanding of financial and operational data (GL, actuals vs forecast, operational metrics)
- Proven experience automating recurring reporting processes
- Strong documentation and data governance mindset
Desirable:
- API integration or automated data refresh pipelines
- Experience with GIS or spatial data
