We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team on a fixed-term maternity leave contract. An opportunity for extension and possible permanency may be available. Your Role as a Payroll Officer

As our Payroll Officer, you’ll take the lead in ensuring pay is processed accurately and on time, every time. You’ll manage payroll in line with statutory requirements, internal policies, and award conditions, providing our team with confidence and peace of mind. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will make a real impact on the smooth running of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll accurately and on time for all staff, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, internal policies, and award conditions.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including leave balances, allowances, deductions, and superannuation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, and leave balances.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary payroll-related tax filings and reports, such as PAYE, NIC, and other statutory deductions.
  • Assist in budget preparation by providing payroll cost analysis and forecasts.
  • Assist with internal and external reporting.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or a relevant qualification.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing with a strong track record of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, and industrial awards, always ensuring compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation, and the ability to work independently while supporting a busy team.
  • Confident computer skills including but limited to (Vlook, Xero and Employment Hero).
  • The right to work unrestricted in Australia (evidence will be required).
  • Police Check, WWCC, NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Minimum of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination.
