Due to continued business growth and a secured pipeline of large-scale projects, we are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support financial performance across multiple projects.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Commercial Manager and Financial Controller, the Project Accountant will play a key role in managing project financial performance, reporting and cost control across multiple live projects.

Working closely with Project Managers, Contract Administrators and commercial teams, this role bridges project delivery and finance, ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting and financial reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Financial Management

  • Maintain accurate project cost reports, ensuring all costs are correctly captured and aligned with budgets and forecasts
  • Track actual costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and supporting corrective actions
  • Support month-end reporting including accruals, cost-to-complete and cash flow forecasting
  • Reconcile subcontractor commitments, variations and retention positions with commercial teams
  • Work closely with procurement and project teams to ensure accuracy of purchase orders, claims and invoices

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly financial and performance reports across projects
  • Support forecasting, trend analysis and financial modelling
  • Provide real-time insights into project financial performance to support decision making
  • Contribute to commercial reviews and project reporting

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure project financial processes comply with company policies and statutory requirements
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation across projects
  • Support continuous improvement of financial systems, reporting and processes

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Contract Administrators and Quantity Surveyors to ensure cost transparency
  • Support alignment between project and corporate financial reporting
  • Provide financial support and guidance to project teams

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven experience in project accounting or commercial finance within construction or engineering environments
  • Strong understanding of cost control, accruals, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Experience working on large-scale or complex projects preferred
  • Proficient in Excel and financial systems (Premier or similar highly regarded)
  • Strong analytical capability with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or similar
  • CPA or CA qualification (completed or in progress) preferred
  • Australian work rights
