Female Support Worker (Internally known as an Enablement Assistant)

​Location: Bournemouth

Hours Per Week: Part time day hours and Full time wake nights

Hourly Rate: £13.00

Driver required with full UK Auto Drivers Licence (Client has her own car that you will use)

About You

You would need to be a calm, fun individual that can swim and like the outdoors. The person you would be supporting is very much an outdoors person, who works on a farm 3 days per week and likes to go for long walks on the weekends. She also loves swimming, so you must be a good swimmer.

You would need to be a competent driver with a full UK driver’s licence, as the person you are supporting has her own car which you can use to take her out and to the farm.

You would also need to be a good and clear communicator as the person you are supporting has a communication disorder.

Experience of autism/learning disability/sensory processing difficulties would be an advantage, although training will be given.

About the role

Jane is a 27-year-old young adult female with autism, learning disability and sensory processing disorder. She currently lives in the family home in Bournemouth but will be moving out into her own home very soon within the BH postcode area. She is very active and is a fun individual who is a joy to be around. She is happy, interactive and has a wicked sense of humour!

She loves visiting local areas including the New Forest and the beach and has regular access to leisure activities including swimming, bowling & golf at the weekends.

She also enjoys listening to her music, watching Disney and thoroughly enjoys food!

There is personal care duties required within this position including helping with bathing and hair washing and applying creams, etc.

Clear structure, routine and full support with accessing a varied activity schedule is required to help her respond well.

Her communication style is using objects of reference, certain key words Sign along and her iPad.

The support ratio is 1:1 at all times along with helping her use public transport with her own bus pass.

She really enjoys swimming, walking and trampolining every week and requires team members to share her interests especially the love of being outdoors.

Some of her favourite past times is going out to coffee shops, along with going out for lunch to KFC/McDonalds.

Janes week also includes going to a day service 2 days per week and attending the working farm 3 days per week.

She also has a small job which is currently supported by her parents that she does every month delivering magazines in her local area, which enables her to earn some money.
