Description

This role is for someone who leads with heart – and knows how to get things done.

At Parkerville Children and Youth Care, our vision is simple: Western Australia as the safest place in the world for every child to grow up. We support children, young people, and families to build skills, address trauma, and become the best versions of themselves, and right now, we’re building something worth being part of. Our Way Home is Parkerville’s out of home care program, and this is a genuine leadership role, not a stepping stone, not a gap-filler.

What this role actually looks like

You’ll lead a team of dedicated practitioners delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive out of home care to services to children and young people. Day to day, that means holding the operational and practice leadership of the team: budgets, compliance, quality, while also being the kind of leader your team genuinely wants to follow.

Reporting directly to the Executive Manager of Our Way Home, you’ll be part of a leadership structure that is connected, supportive, and focused on getting the best outcomes for children and families. You will work closely with Service Managers, Practice Leads, and Cultural Practice Leads across Parkerville to ensure children and families experience coordinated, connected support rather than fragmented service delivery. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will also contribute to shaping continuous improvement across the organisation.

This is a place-based role, meaning you will be embedded within the local community in which the position is located, building strong, authentic relationships with families, carers, partner organisations, ACCOs, government, and community stakeholders. This work is relational and grounded in community – you will not be operating in isolation.

You’ll thrive here if you…

  • Have at least 5 years’ leadership experience in community services, child protection, or out-of-home care
  • Experience in Foster Care will be highly regarded
  • Know what it takes to build and sustain a high-performing team culture
  • Are comfortable and experienced holding operational accountability: budgets, compliance, reporting
  • Have worked with children and families impacted by trauma, abuse, and/or family violence and understand the complexity of that work
  • Lead collaboratively, across teams, across systems, across difference
  • Are genuinely committed to culturally safe, evidence-informed practice
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Social Sciences, Human Services, or a related field

Why Join Us?

Parkerville Children and Youth Care are uniquely positioned to provide the successful applicant with the following benefits.

  • SCHADS Schedule B and Level – Level 7.1 – 7.3 $60.27 – $62.79 per hour
  • We provide regular personal development opportunities to ensure you have access to high-quality learning, skill-building, and reflective practice – supporting your certification and career growth.
  • EAP Service with Wellness resources
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Salary Packaging of up to $15,900

We’ll be honest with you; this work is hard. The children, young people and families we support have experienced real trauma that impacts their daily lives, and that asks something of the people who show up for them. But there is nothing quite like witnessing a child or young person begin to heal, find their confidence, and thrive and that is what keeps our people coming back. This is some of the most meaningful work you’ll do in your career.

We’re a values-led organisation. Bold and courageous. Curious and humble. Caring and respectful. Hopeful. Truthful, and accountable. These aren’t words on a wall, they shape how we make decisions, how we treat each other, and how we show up for the people we serve.

We invest in our people, we’re in a period of genuine growth, and we want leaders who want to grow with us.
