About the role:
Permanent Part-Time | 2 Days a Week (0.4 FTE, 15.2 hours)
We’re hiring two Food Rescue Engagement Coordinators (FRECs) to maximise the impact of our food rescue operations in Queensland.
One FREC role will be weighted toward donor engagement, building and sustaining the food donation partnerships that keep our rescue operations running. The other will focus on agency engagement, supporting the charities and community organisations who get rescued food to people who need it most.

What you will get to do:
Donor Engagement (one role weighted toward):
Relationship Building & Retention:
- Build and maintain strong, sustainable relationships with donors (supermarkets, food services, etc.)
- Drive food waste diversion goals with donors and increase impact through regular site visits and communications
- Present improvements and new services to donors and help them achieve their targets
Business Development & Growth:
- Prospect, identify and secure new bulk food donation opportunities across Queensland
- Research trends and work with internal teams to create tailored solutions for donors.
- Pitch and develop proposals that align with donor goals.
Agency Engagement (one role focused on):
Relationship Management & Support:
- Build trusted, ongoing relationships with OzHarvest’s recipient agencies, understanding their needs and helping them get the most from our partnership
- Manage agency expectations, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and work with the logistics team to deliver excellent service
- Provide ongoing engagement and education opportunities to agencies to increase their impact for the communities they serve
Compliance & Risk:
- Conduct risk assessments on new and existing agency sites to ensure compliant infrastructure for handling, storing and distributing food safely
- Ensure agencies adhere to OzHarvest’s Terms and Conditions — food must be safely distributed at no cost and without barriers to the public
- Maintain accurate agency records and gather data through surveys, driver feedback and reporting
Across Both Roles:
Research & Coordination:
- Collaborate with the logistics and driver teams to maximise food rescue efficiency on the ground
- Forecast donor and agency targets to support operational planning and management reporting
- Maintain accurate CRM records and contribute to KPI reporting across your area of responsibility
Driver Team Support:
- Work closely with the Driver Team day to day on donor and agency engagement matters
- Coach drivers to navigate challenges with their donors and agencies, and support the implementation of solutions
Work Health & Safety:
- Uphold WHS regulations and maintain a safe working environment in everything you do
- Ensure safe food handling practices are understood and followed across donor and agency sites
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in customer service, relationship-building or managing third-party providers
- Comfortable working across a diverse range of stakeholders from supermarket operations teams to frontline community workers
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Experience with CRM systems, KPI reporting and MS Office
- Current driver’s licence, Police Check, Working with Children’s Check and food safety qualifications (or willingness to obtain)
