About the role

As Production Manager – Apparel, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of Oroton’s Apparel ranges, ensuring products move seamlessly from design concept through to store launch. Working closely with Design and Merchandise, you will balance creativity with commercial outcomes to meet margin, quality and timeline targets. This role owns the production critical path and oversees all sourcing, costing, quality and supplier management activities. You’ll act as a central connector across cross-functional teams, driving alignment, accountability and momentum throughout the product lifecycle. With a strong focus on responsible purchasing, you will progress ethical sourcing, supplier transparency and sustainability initiatives across the supply base. You’ll lead and develop the production function while navigating the complexities of global manufacturing environments.

This is 12 month contract position covering a parental leave period, and is based in our Melbourne Design Studio in Abbotsford.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end production process for all apparel categories, from concept to delivery
  • Build, monitor and drive seasonal critical paths to ensure on-time delivery and target margins
  • Own production costing, margin control and pricing negotiations across raw materials and finished goods
  • Lead supplier sourcing, onboarding, performance management and ethical compliance
  • Oversee raw material, greige and fabric booking aligned to delivery and cashflow requirements
  • Ensure bulk production meets approved specifications through rigorous quality control processes
  • Resolve quality issues collaboratively, including negotiation of corrective actions and penalties
  • Act as the key liaison between Design, Merchandise, Supply Chain and external vendors
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, efficiency and cost management
  • Lead, coach and develop the Production Coordinator and support cross-functional teams

What you’ll bring

  • 4–5+ years’ experience in apparel production within a quality-focused brand or business
  • Strong understanding of apparel manufacturing, sourcing, QC and production timelines
  • Proven ability to balance design innovation with commercial and margin objectives
  • Experience managing offshore suppliers with cultural sensitivity and confidence
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and time management
  • Advanced Excel and reporting capability with comfort adapting to new systems
  • Solid knowledge of product specifications, fit and production standards
  • Understanding of ethical sourcing, compliance frameworks and sustainability principles
  • Clear, confident communicator able to influence across functions and levels
  • A collaborative leadership style with resilience and accountability under pressure
