About the role
As a Disability Support Worker at Oriah, your primary focus is delivering person-centred, high-quality support to people with a disability. You will assist clients to identify and achieve the goals that matter to them, and empower them to make informed choices about how they want to live their lives.
The successful will need to have flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, public holidays, and overnight shifts.
This is a casual position, and you will see yourself working closely with an assigned client across the Sydney Metro region.
Role Responsibilities

Daily Living Support: Provide personal care (grooming, toileting), medication administration, and meal preparation in line with individual care plans.

Promote Independence: Use active support principles to encourage participants to engage in daily activities and domestic tasks.

Community Connection: Help participants engage in hobbies and social interests, while assisting with transport (public transport, taxis, and company vehicles).

Specialised Care: Support participants with high physical needs or behaviours of concern, following manual handling assessments and behaviour support plans.

Equipment & Advocacy: Maintain communication aids and personal equipment while advocating for participants and their families to access community resources.

Documentation: Complete accurate case notes, medical records, and client management updates in a timely and professional manner.

Environment: Foster an enjoyable, respectful, and safe environment for all participants at all times.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, Home and Community Care, or Mental Health (or currently working towards).
- Previous industry experience in Australia or relevant personal lived experience.
- Full valid NSW Driver’s License & Reliable vehicle with Comprehensive Car Insurance.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate/Proof of Vaccination.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Working with Children Check for paid employment (or willing to obtain).
- Current National Police Check (or willing to obtain).
- Current NDIS Clearance (or willing to obtain).
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Modules (or willing to obtain).
- Smartphone with reliable internet access and the ability to download/use rostering applications.
