Description

The Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Officer is responsible for delivering specialist logistics and sustainment support within complex Defence environments. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role supports capability lifecycle management through the development, coordination, and delivery of Integrated Logistics Support activities aligned to Defence standards and operational requirements.

Based in Canberra, this role contributes to the planning, analysis, and optimisation of sustainment systems to ensure capability readiness, availability, maintainability, and compliance across Defence programs. The position requires stakeholder engagement across engineering, project management, supply chain, and operational teams to support effective through-life capability management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities across Defence capability projects and sustainment programs.
  • Support lifecycle management activities including maintenance planning, provisioning, inventory analysis, reliability, maintainability, and supportability assessments.
  • Prepare and maintain ILS documentation, reports, and artefacts in accordance with Defence standards and contractual requirements
  • Coordinate supply support, asset management, and inventory control activities to support operational readiness and sustainment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project, and operational stakeholders to identify and resolve logistics support issues.
  • Analyse logistics data and performance metrics to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to sustainment planning, logistics modelling, and resource forecasting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence policies, governance frameworks, and applicable logistics support standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior logistics or support personnel where required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across logistics and sustainment functions.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience delivering Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) outcomes within Defence, aerospace, maritime, land, or complex technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of Defence sustainment principles, asset management, and capability lifecycle management.
  • Experience in areas such as supply support, maintenance management, provisioning, reliability and maintainability analysis, or technical logistics documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities within complex stakeholder environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience preparing reports, logistics artefacts, and sustainment documentation aligned to Defence frameworks.
  • Proficiency in logistics management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of Defence governance, compliance, and assurance processes.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Integrated Logistics Support, sustainment, or Defence logistics environments.
  • Experience working within Australian Defence or Defence Industry environments is highly desirable.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
