About the role
Are you a skilled all‑rounder who enjoys hands-on work? We’re looking for a proactive Maintenance Leading Hand to support our facilities team and help keep our large Retirement Village in top condition.
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll take the lead on day‑to‑day maintenance tasks while supporting a small team to deliver high‑quality service to our residents. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and guiding a small maintenance team
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests across the village
- Completing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
- Managing pool maintenance, including chemical handling and water treatment
- Liaising with contractors and ensuring work is completed to the required standard.
- Carrying out general repairs and upkeep

- Assisting with outdoor cleaning and presentation when required
- Applying your trade skills where relevant
- Supporting additional maintenance tasks as service needs evolve

Remuneration & role details
Annual salary: $90,000 per annum
Hours: 38 hours per week
Employment type: Full-time

About you
To join us, you will need:
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) in a home care environment, including relevant legislation and safe work practices.
- All Ocean Gardens staff must satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation and Ocean Gardens policies.
- Possession of a current driver’s license.
- Demonstrated knowledge and interest for aged persons in their home environment.
- Trade qualification or demonstrated equivalent experience in a relevant trade.
- Experience in pool maintenance, including chemical handling and water treatment, in compliance with safety regulations.
- Sound Organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to demonstrate an innovative and creative approach to service delivery.
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety in a home care environment.
- Able to demonstrate competent computer skills (Word, Excel, Email).
- Ability to work without supervision, and to use initiative to resolve problems.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
