Description

We are looking for an experienced Restaurant & Event Manager to join our team.

We can off a true work life balance, with limited nights and primarily Monday to Friday work, public holiday off and a Christmas Shutdown.

As the NuServices Restaurant & Event Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the front-end management of our Restaurant, LC Deli/Student Cafe, and Functions & Events.

You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, leadership, and legislative compliance are maintained. Reporting to the Manager of Food & Beverage Services, you will lead a team to deliver exceptional dining, event, and catering experiences for UoN staff, students, and the broader Newcastle community.

This role is based at the Callaghan campus and is a predominantly a Monday to Friday role, with public holidays off and a two-week Christmas shut down.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team in delivering high-quality dining, event, and catering experiences.

• Achieve financial sustainability by managing costs and meeting budget targets.

• Oversee the operations of the Restaurant, Deli, and Catering & Events.

• Train and develop Restaurant, Deli, and Function staff on service standards and product knowledge.

• Implement performance management processes, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching and mentoring.

• Manage & perform all restaurant front of house duties related to the service of food and beverages, ensuring professionalism and compliance.

• Manage the Restaurant and Catering email account, handling enquiries and bookings.

• Ensure compliance with legislative obligations, company policies, and the Code of Conduct.

• Support NuServices’ Strategic Business Plan and future growth initiatives.

Requirements:

• Extensive experience within the hospitality industry; preferably experience managing a restaurant and large functions and events (100+).

• Understanding of current legislations, Liquor Licensing, Food Safety, & WHS standards.

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example.

• Experience in staff training and development.
