🌿 Make magic happen in a café that creates real impact
Part-time (Wednesday–Saturday) | Richmond
🌼 About Secret Garden
Secret Garden is more than just a café and events space — it’s a community-driven, inclusive environment where people come together to connect, learn, and thrive.
Alongside serving great coffee and hosting beautiful events, we provide meaningful opportunities for NDIS participants to build skills, confidence, and connection through supported work in our café.
We’re now looking for the right leader to bring this all together — someone who can run a great café, deliver seamless events, and create a positive, inclusive space where everyone can succeed.
🌺 The Role – What You’ll Be Doing
This is a hands-on café and events role with a strong people focus.
You will:
- Run front-of-house café operations across Wednesday to Saturday
- Lead daily service while ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment
- Work closely with Support Workers and NDIS participants, guiding and supporting them during café service
- Help create a space where participants can learn, contribute, and feel confident in a real work setting
- Lead and coordinate events and functions, including weddings, workshops, and private bookings
- Manage event delivery end-to-end — including planning, run sheets, vendors, and service execution
- Balance smooth café service with event setup and delivery
- Maintain a high standard of presentation, service, and experience
- Support rostering, team coordination, and day-to-day operations
This is a role for someone who is just as comfortable leading a busy lunch service as they are supporting someone to learn how to take an order or deliver a coffee.
🌿 Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who brings both capability and care:
- Experienced in café or hospitality operations (front-of-house leadership essential)
- Confident running events or functions alongside regular service
- Passionate about working in an inclusive, community-focused environment
- Comfortable supporting and guiding NDIS participants in a workplace setting
- Patient, encouraging, and able to adapt your leadership style to different individuals
- A strong communicator who builds trust with participants, support workers, and staff
- Calm, practical, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment
- Organised and able to juggle service, people, and events at once
🌷 Why You’ll Love This Role
-
Meaningful work — you’ll directly support people to build skills and confidence
- A unique mix of café operations + events + social impact
- Consistent Part-time hours (Wednesday–Saturday)
- A beautiful outdoor venue with a strong sense of community
- Opportunity to shape how the café and program operates day-to-day
- A role where what you do genuinely matters
🌼 What You’ll Bring
- Experience in a café, venue, or hospitality leadership role
- Confidence running front-of-house service
- Experience or interest in working alongside people with disability
- Event coordination experience
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- A hands-on, positive, and adaptable approach
- Availability to work Wednesday–Saturday, including events as required
