Join the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) and make a real impact supporting Aboriginal people experiencing or at risk of homelessness across the Northern Territory.

NAAJA’s Civil Practice is seeking a passionate and culturally responsive Housing Support Worker to work alongside lawyers and community partners to provide holistic, trauma-informed support to vulnerable clients.

About the Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will work directly with Aboriginal clients experiencing complex housing, homelessness, family violence and social issues. Working within NAAJA’s Civil team, you will support clients through advocacy, referrals, practical assistance and culturally safe case management while collaborating closely with housing lawyers to improve outcomes.

This is an opportunity to build strong community relationships and contribute to meaningful change through a justice-focused and client-centred approach.

In this role, you will:

  • Support clients experiencing homelessness or housing instability
  • Conduct intake assessments and assist clients to navigate housing pathways
  • Work collaboratively with lawyers to support legal matters and case planning
  • Advocate for clients with housing providers, government agencies and support services
  • Assist clients to engage with programs and appointments
  • Provide culturally appropriate education around tenancy responsibilities and housing stability
  • Maintain accurate case notes and client records
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, families, community organisations and stakeholders

About You

You are compassionate, resilient and committed to supporting Aboriginal communities. You understand the challenges faced by vulnerable clients and can work in a culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based way.

You will bring:

  • Experience in case management, community services or housing support
  • Strong understanding of homelessness, family violence and social disadvantage
  • Ability to work with clients experiencing complex needs and challenging circumstances
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities
  • A collaborative and team-focused approach
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Ability to obtain an Ochre Card and satisfactory criminal history check

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related field are desirable.
