We are seeking a Senior Heritage Consultant to join the NBRS Heritage Studio in Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity to join our highly skilled heritage team and work across a broad range of projects that span the full spectrum of heritage management and conservation.

The NBRS Heritage team is a mix of heritage architects, consultants and historians who provide the full range of specialist heritage consulting services. Established over 50 years ago, we have extensive experience working with sites of Commonwealth, State and local significance at all scales – from small cottages to city buildings and complex sites.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Heritage Consultant, you will actively provide heritage advice and prepare heritage reports such as assessments, heritage impact statements, conservation management plans and interpretation plans. You will work across all phases of a project from site visit to submission and implementation, both on your own and as part of a team. Your work will involve direct liaison with clients, architects and authorities, and you will provide verbal and written advice on heritage issues, including conservation works. You will also manage project programs and budgeting and maintain high quality client and stakeholder relationships. This is a ‘hands on’ opportunity, and we are seeking a real team player with a positive attitude, no matter how big or small the project. In this role you will be supported by the Studio Principal and the rest of the team, while upholding the ethos, strategies, and design direction of NBRS.
ABOUT YOU
You have
- A recognised accredited degree in Architecture, Heritage Conservation, or a related discipline.
- 5 + years’ experience working as a Heritage Consultant or in a similar role.
- A strong ability to work autonomously to produce quality Conservation Management Plans (CMPs), Heritage Impact Statements (HIS) and other heritage reports and provide heritage advice in a professional manner.
- A holistic understanding of heritage management issues, including appreciation of built heritage and movable heritage/collections.
- Sound knowledge of conservation policies and practice, and suitable experience in heritage conservation work.
- Considerable practical experience in heritage management of the built environment and cultural landscapes.
- An ability to be involved in multiple projects with differing levels of complexity.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Well-developed communication skills.
- Ability to engage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Membership of Australia ICOMOS (desirable).
