ACCHOs deliver comprehensive primary health care to more than half of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally.
About the Role
The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is seeking an Assistant Director, Mental Health to provide leadership and drive national mental health, suicide prevention and social and emotional wellbeing initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This senior role offers the opportunity to shape strategic policy and program delivery, advocate on complex and sensitive issues, and strengthen community controlled mental health programs across the ACCHO sector.
Responsibilities of this role but not limited to:
- Provide strategic leadership within NACCHO’s Mental Health Team to improve mental health, suicide prevention and social and emotional wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Manage and support a small team, providing direction across grant administration, project management and program implementation to achieve effective and accountable outcomes.
- Deliver timely, accurate and evidence based policy and program advice on complex, sensitive and often stigmatised issues, and advocate strongly for NACCHO positions across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, government departments, advisory groups and sector partners.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
• Tertiary qualification in relevant health or social work field is highly desirable.
• Experience managing staff and teams.
• Experience at level in a similar organisation or role is essential.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable.
