About the role:
The Assistant Production Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing daily production operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Production Manager, this role involves leading and mentoring a team of production staff to achieve operational excellence whilst ensuring the effective implementation of health, safety, food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
The role will be for our Afternoon Shift: Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm till 10pm.
Key Responsibilities but not limited too:
- Lead, train, and manage a team of production staff.
- Monitor performance, manage rosters, timesheets, overtime, and address behavior issues.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks, oversee production volume, and ensure staff sign-off.
- Ensure health, safety, food safety, hygiene, and quality standards are met, and report defects for improvement.
- Oversee waste management, giveaway reports, and manage production costs through continuous improvement.
- Document and implement standard operating procedures and conduct studies to improve efficiency.
- Track production line performance, maintain GMP principles, and ensure end-of-day cleaning.
- Assign tasks based on specialisation, set production objectives, and implement action plans to achieve targets.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment in the FMCG industry.
- Strong understanding of food processing/manufacturing environments, HACCP, OH&S, and good manufacturing practices.
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams and managing process improvement.
- Excellent communication, internal consulting skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse systems for managing stock of raw materials and consumables.
- High accuracy in completing tasks and managing time effectively.
