The Opportunity:
MW Wines is entering an exciting phase of growth. We are seeking a dedicated Wine Professional to join our Collingwood-based team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of the Australian secondary market, handling iconic back-vintages and world-class collections.
As a Wine Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in our ecosystem, bridging the gap between our premium auction house, fine wine retail, and managed storage services. You won’t just be “selling” wine; you will be managing its lifecycle—from valuation and cataloging to final delivery.
The Role
You will be an integral part of a high-performing team of seven, contributing to:
• Auctions: Providing expert market valuations, cataloging rare bottles with precision, and managing the monthly auction cycle (stocktake, payments, and logistics).
• Retail & Events: Driving retail sales of Australian and international icons, and hosting curated customer tastings and events.
• Managed Storage: Acting as a trusted steward for our clients’ private collections—cataloging inbound stock and managing precise withdrawals.
• Operational Excellence: Maintaining the standards of our climate-controlled facility, including administrative tasks and ensuring the workspace reflects our premium brand.
About You
You are a “wine person” through and through, but you also understand the discipline required to run a logistics-heavy business.
• Proven Expertise: You likely have a background in premium wine retail or the trade, with a deep curiosity for old and new world icons.
• The “Collector” Mindset: You possess an uncompromising attention to detail, especially regarding provenance and bottle condition.
• Communication: You offer a sophisticated level of customer service, with the ability to discuss fine wine confidently with seasoned collectors.
• Team Spirit: You thrive in a dynamic, small-team environment where no task is too small and professional collaboration is the baseline.
Requirements
• Valid RSA and Driver’s Licence.
• Strong computer literacy and organizational skills.
• Physical fitness suitable for the “hands-on” nature of stock management (receiving/picking/packing).
• Availability for a 5-day week (8:30 am – 5:30 pm), plus one Saturday morning per month and occasional evening tastings.
