Description

IT Support Officer – Where IT support meets real world aviation operations

Location: Moorabbin Airport, in Melbourne’s South-East

Full Time, Permanent

The IT Support Officer is responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of the businesses IT systems, networks, and applications across all Microflite Group brands. This role focuses on resolving technical issues promptly, maintaining system reliability, and supporting end users to enable efficient business operations.

Why Microflite Group?

Microflite Group brings together three distinct aviation businesses – Microflite Aviation, Airlines of Tasmania, and Cambridge Airport, under a single group model united by shared purpose, strong capability, and clear alignment. Together, these businesses form a connected aviation group with a strong commitment to safety, excellence, and working better together.

Professionalism, safety, and people sit at the core of everything we do, and we are proud of the diversity of our operations, believing we are stronger because of our differences, not despite them. Working at Microflite Group means being part of an organisation that values expertise, encourages accountability, and recognises the importance of every role in delivering safe, reliable outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you’ll be part of the IT team that helps keep our systems and devices running smoothly across the business. With training and support from the IT Manager, you’ll:

  • Provide friendly, first level technical support to staff for computers, laptops, iPads, mobile phones, and other devices.
  • Log, troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate IT issues in line with agreed support processes.
  • Help maintain everyday IT systems such as Microsoft 365, Mobile Device Management (MDM), and user accounts and access.
  • Assist with routine system checks, updates, patching, and basic maintenance.
  • Help set up and pack down devices for new and departing staff, including preparing equipment, setting up access, and securely wiping devices.
  • Keep IT asset records and access lists up to date.
  • Support the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system as a backup administrator, helping with device setup, updates, and user support.
  • Help write and update simple IT guides and “how-to” documentation for staff.
  • Assist with IT projects such as new system rollouts, testing, and setup activities.
  • Help staff learn how to use IT systems and tools effectively.
  • Follow IT and cybersecurity policies and report any issues, risks, or concerns to the IT Manager.

What You’ll Bring:

We’re looking for someone who’s keen to build their IT career, enjoys helping others, and brings a positive, practical approach to problem solving. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Hands on experience supporting Apple/Mac devices such as MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones (essential).
  • Exposure to a Mobile Device Management (MDM) system such as Jamf Pro, or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience in an IT support, service desk, or similar role, or strong practical troubleshooting skills and a genuine interest in technology.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle tasks and prioritise your work.
  • Friendly and clear communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical issues in a simple way and work well with others.
  • A willingness to learn, improve, and keep up to date with new technologies.
  • A qualification in IT or a related field is preferred, but not essential.
