Mega Electrics Australia is a National electrical contracting company specialising in HV and LV electrical works across different sectors from infrastructure, industrial and commercial to deliver successful outcomes for our clients. We have been involved in many major projects throughout Victoria including Spark North East Link, CYP Metro Tunnel and SRL Suburban Connect.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a HSEQ Coordinator to join our high performing Victoria team, this role is an integral part of our business which supports projects and business operations.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the State Manager, your role will include but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, reviewing and maintaining project‑specific safety documentation including SWMS, Safety Management Plans and site‑specific risk assessments. 
  • Developing and maintaining HSEQ registers (training and competency, PPE, hazards, incidents, injuries, near misses, plant and equipment). 
  • Assist project teams in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of HSEQ documentation.
  • Conducting regular and ad‑hoc site inspections to verify safe work practices, identify hazards/non‑conformances, and drive corrective actions through to closure. 
  • Assisting with incident, injury and near‑miss investigations, reporting and follow‑up. 
  • Supporting ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 compliance, including internal audits, evidence preparation for external audits, and maintaining audit and corrective action records. 
  • Contributing and presentation of inductions, toolbox talks, training coordination and continuous improvement of systems, processes and structures as the business scales. 
  • Coach, advise and educate site personnel of legislative requirements & changes to comply with company procedures.
  • Compile project specific HSEQ documentation to support tender bids as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in a HSEQ officer role
  • Have a great understanding of the Electrical and Construction Industry
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety
  • Experience in the creation and reviewing of Management Plans, SWMS, JHA’s conducting Audits
  • Understanding of Quality Management processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to coach and influence people of all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team
  • Valid driver’s license and White Card.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience on Victorian infrastructure projects
  • ICAM experience.

 

The successful candidate ideally has experience working on both small to large sized projects, is driven and self-motivated, along with excellent communication skills, customer service skills, coupled with effective coaching skills.
