About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Mining Engineer to provide technical leadership, integration, and delivery of mining studies across a range of commodities and project stages from early concept through to execution-ready outcomes.

The Lead Engineer acts as the single technical point of accountability for assigned studies, supporting the Studies Manager through strong leadership, risk management, and tight delivery discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the delivery of Scoping, PFS, FS, and trade-off studies
  • Developing study strategies, execution plans, and technical frameworks
  • Integrating inputs across mining, processing, infrastructure, geotechnical, environmental, and cost disciplines
  • Managing study progress, scope, risks, and technical challenges
  • Acting as the primary technical interface with clients and supporting investment decisions
  • Driving value optimisation, risk management, and robust economic outcomes
  • Ensuring compliance with reporting codes (e.g. JORC) and internal QA/QC standards
  • Mentoring and developing engineers, contributing to team capability and succession planning

About you

You are technically strong and commercially minded mining engineer who thrives on leading complex studies and influencing outcomes. You bring a balance of strategic thinking, hands-on delivery, and the ability to bring people together to achieve high-quality results.

  • 15+ years’ experience in mining studies and project development
  • Proven delivery of Scoping, PFS, and FS studies across metals commodities
  • Strong expertise in mine planning, scheduling, and optimisation, with a solid understanding of cost estimation and economic evaluation
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary studies teams within a consulting or project environment
  • The ability to translate technical complexity into clear insights for clients and stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen and confidence in decision-making
  • Excellent communication skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders and executives
  • A leadership mindset, with a passion for mentoring and building team capability
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar
