Role Summary

Masada College seeks an outstanding Music Teacher to inspire students through engaging, creative, and performance-based learning experiences across the Performing Arts curriculum and Music co-curricular ensembles. The successful applicant will deliver a contemporary and dynamic Music curriculum across Years 7 to 12, including Stage 6 courses of Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension, with the potential to teach Years 7 to 10 Drama as required.

The role requires the ability to effectively differentiate learning to support and extend students of varying abilities while fostering creativity, confidence, collaboration and artistic expression through practical, performance and composition-based learning experiences. The successful applicant will encourage students to develop both technical skill and personal expression, while building an appreciation for the role of music and performance within a broader creative and cultural context.

We are seeking a passionate educator who values student-centred and experiential learning approaches, encouraging students to perform, create, explore and express themselves with confidence. In addition to classroom teaching, the successful applicant will contribute to the broader Performing Arts program through involvement in co-curricular ensembles, performances, and the continued development of a vibrant and engaging music culture across the College. This includes providing instructional teacher support within the Years 4-6 curriculum ensemble program and directing various co-curricular senior ensembles.


Key Accountabilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Teach engaging Music lessons across Years 7 to 12, including Stage 6 Music courses as required.
  • Collaborate with Performing Arts staff and tutors to provide instructional support and actively participate in the Years 4-6 ensemble program.
  • Demonstrate willingness and capacity to teach Years 7 to 10 Drama if required.
  • Support and extend students through differentiated, creative and performance-based learning experiences.
  • Develop students’ skills in performance, composition, listening and musical understanding.
  • Use contemporary teaching strategies and digital tools to support student learning.

Performing Arts Co-Curricular

  • Direct and support co-curricular music ensembles within the Performing Arts program.
  • Contribute to concerts, performances, excursions, incursions and Performing Arts events.
  • Help build a vibrant Music and Performing Arts culture across the College.
  • Encourage students to participate, perform, create and express themselves with confidence.

Curriculum and Professional Practice

  • Plan and deliver programs aligned with NSW curriculum and syllabus requirements.
  • Design assessment and feedback that supports student growth.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and carers about student progress.
  • Contribute to faculty planning, professional learning and College initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with Performing Arts staff and the wider College team.

Student Wellbeing and Support

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom where students feel safe to participate, perform and take creative risks.
  • Build respectful relationships with students, staff and families.
  • Support students requiring additional assistance in collaboration with relevant staff. 
  • Provide extension opportunities for high-achieving students.
  • Liaise with Year Patrons in assisting students who need different approaches to education.
