Role location: Melbourne or Hobart

Your role

As a Communications Advisor within the Corporate Affairs team, you will be pivotal in crafting compelling narratives, managing external communications channels, and supporting media relations to build trust and transparency with the public and key stakeholders.

You’ll:

  • Assist in the development and execution of external communications strategies aligned with project milestones and stakeholder needs.
  • Draft and edit media releases, briefing notes, speeches and other public-facing content.
  • Contribute to the planning and creation of content for social media, website updates, newsletters, eDMs, digital campaigns and internal publications.
  • Collaborate with the multimedia design specialist to develop engaging and high-quality collateral.
  • Act as lead community manager, monitoring and engaging with external audiences through social and digital owned channels in line with Marinus Link social media and media policies.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide timely analysis and reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Manager in responding to media enquiries and coordinating interviews and press opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of public events, stakeholder forums and community engagement activities.

You’ll need

  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • 3–4+ years’ experience in a communications, media or public affairs role
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience in media monitoring, analysis and reporting
  • Familiarity with digital communications platforms and social media strategy
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment
  • Knowledge of the energy sector or infrastructure projects is desirable but not essential.

Company Overview

Marinus Link is the bridge to a smarter, greener and more connected future. This state-of-the-art infrastructure project will strengthen Australia’s national electricity grid, unlock thousands of jobs and promote renewable energy investment. The two-way energy highway will enable Tasmania and Victoria to share much more electricity, pairing Victoria’s wind and solar with Tasmania’s flexible hydropower system and geographically diverse wind. This is a powerful synergy that strengthens the grid for both states. Marinus Link’s fibre optic cables will improve digital connectivity between Tasmania and Victoria by 150 times. After years of planning and design, construction is on the horizon. Marinus Link is jointly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania and the State of Victoria.
