Your Role

As Commercial Manager, you will oversee Marinus Link’s commercial management and governance, ensuring that contractual and commercial principles are fully integrated into strategic and operational decision-making. You will lead commercial assurance and performance oversight, providing clarity and confidence to executive leadership, project teams, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Strategy – Drive commercial governance and strategic decision-making across project delivery.

• Functional Excellence – Administer ITC and EPC contracts in line with terms, obligations, and best-practice frameworks.

• Monitoring & Reporting – Maintain visibility of cost forecasts, risk exposure, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Culture & Capability Building – Uplift commercial competency and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with project controls, procurement, finance, and external contractors to mitigate risk.

• Risk Management – Champion early warning and strategic negotiation on claims, delays, and interface disputes.

You’ll Need

You are a proactive, strategic leader who excels in connecting commercial intelligence with decision-making and thrives in complex, multi-package delivery environments. You’ll bring:

• Expertise in Commercial Management – Extensive experience in major infrastructure projects, ideally within ITC/D&C/EPC models.

• Stakeholder Engagement & Influence – Proven ability to advise and influence executive leadership and negotiate outcomes.

• Technical Capability – Strong skills in cost forecasting, claims analysis, and commercial risk assessment.

• Commercial & Regulatory Acumen – Deep understanding of contract management principles and compliance frameworks.

• Leadership & Culture Building – Ability to coach and mentor teams and promote collaborative behaviours.

• Problem-Solving & Resilience – Skilled at balancing risk and opportunity in high-stakes environments.

This state-of-the-art infrastructure project will strengthen Australia’s national electricity grid, unlock thousands of jobs and promote renewable energy investment. The two-way energy highway will enable Tasmania and Victoria to share much more electricity, pairing Victoria’s wind and solar with Tasmania’s flexible hydropower system and geographically diverse wind. This is a powerful synergy that strengthens the grid for both states. Marinus Link’s fibre optic cables will improve digital connectivity between Tasmania and Victoria by 150 times. After years of planning and design, construction is on the horizon. Marinus Link is jointly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania and the State of Victoria.
