Short Summary

Our Integration Engineers play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining healthcare data integration solutions to ensure the seamless exchange of clinical and administrative data, ultimately improving patient care and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Designing, configuring, and maintaining HL7 interfaces and integration solutions connecting our systems with other healthcare systems including PAS, order comms and reporting systems
  • Documenting laboratory analyser interfaces and specific requirements for each customer laboratory needs
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and document HL7 interfaces and data mappings, adhering to industry standards and best practice
  • Conducting thorough testing and validation of HL7 interfaces to ensure data accuracy, message integrity, and system interoperability
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to data exchange, interface connectivity, and data transformation
  • Implementing security measures to safeguard patient data and ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, such as GDPR and NHS Digital standards
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of integration solutions, including interface specifications, configuration settings, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Collaborating with internal teams, external vendors, and healthcare providers to gather requirements, assess integration needs, and provide technical expertise
  • Providing training and support to end-users and technical staff on the usage of integrated systems and interfaces
  • Providing input and recommendations for improvements for internal processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assisting other teams with implementations or projects as appropriate
  • Assisting with product testing when necessary

What experience do I need:

  • Integration experience in one or more NHS settings e.g., national, acute, community social care, primary care. LIMS/Pathology experience an advantage.
  • Experience in working with healthcare interoperability and integration technologies (e.g., HL7 v2, ASTM, FHIR)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a technical and non-technical language
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines, balancing competing priorities and responding to client needs
  • The ability to build effective relationships with co-workers and clients, including: the ability to successfully work under pressure in a complex and competitive business environment; and quickly adapt to the changing needs of our clients, and work with other teams to ensure those needs are met
  • A continuous improvement mindset
