About Macro

Macro Metals Limited is a Western Australian mining and mining services business. Through our wholly owned subsidiary, Macro Mining Services, we deliver pit-to-port capability for Tier-1 resources clients across the State including load and haul, drill and blast, civil, processing, bulk haulage, export logistics and rehabilitation.

We are growing, and we are moving from owner-operator agility into the structured governance our clients, our people and our investors expect. We earn the right to operate by protecting our people, honouring our commitments, and respecting the Country we work on. Our values are not posters on a wall:

  • Protect People – Always
  • Do the Right Thing – Then Own the Outcome
  • Say It Straight, Early and Respectfully
  • Deliver What We Commit To
  • Respect Country, Community and Context.

The Opportunity

This is a build role, not a steady-state one.

As GM of People & Culture, you will design and lead the people function Macro needs for the next phase, one that recruits, develops and retains the safe, capable workforce required to stand behind Tier-1 client commitments. You will sit on the Senior Leadership Team, report directly to the Managing Director and engage the Board on culture, succession, remuneration and people risk.

You will shape culture, capability, industrial relations and HR systems at the enterprise level and be measured on outcomes that show up in safety, retention, leadership maturity and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Group people strategy and workforce plan, aligned to operational forecasts and the project pipeline
  • Build and embed a values-led, accountable leadership culture at every level of the business
  • Lead enterprise talent acquisition, succession planning and leadership development
  • Manage industrial and employee relations under the Fair Work Act and the WA WHS framework, including enterprise bargaining
  • Design and govern remuneration, reward and performance frameworks suitable for an ASX-listed environment
  • Stand up the HR systems, data and governance the business will be audited against — aligned to M365 / SharePoint and the Group’s ISO-certified Integrated Management System
  • Partner with HSEQ on psychosocial risk, fatigue, mental health and respectful workplace conduct as operational risks
  • Drive Indigenous workforce participation as an operational responsibility, not a compliance overlay

About You

You are an experienced executive who has built or scaled a people function in mining, resources, energy, civil or comparable heavy industry. You read industrial instruments fluently, manage IR/ER without drama, and have lived the work of taking an organisation from informal to structured.

You will bring:

  • 10–15+ years’ senior P&C leadership, including time at GM or executive level
  • Deep working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, modern awards, enterprise bargaining and the WA WHS framework
  • Demonstrated experience scaling HR functions, frameworks and systems in growing organisations
  • Executive remuneration experience, ideally with ASX-listed exposure
  • Strong commercial instincts and a disciplined, plain-spoken leadership style
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Law, Psychology or a related discipline

Indigenous partnership experience, postgraduate qualifications (MBA, MHRM, GAICD) and AHRI/AICD membership are valued.

Why Join Macro

  • A genuine seat at the table with direct access to the Managing Director and visibility to the Board
  • A pivotal moment to shape an organisation, not maintain one
  • Values that are tested under pressure, not just written down
  • Exposure to Tier-1 clients and the operational reality of Western Australian mining
  • A competitive executive remuneration package commensurate with experience

How to Apply

If you have built people functions where it matters and are ready to do it again, apply with your CV and a brief cover note outlining what you would tackle in your first 90 days.

Macro Metals is committed to a workforce that reflects the communities we work in. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and from candidates of all backgrounds.
