About the role:

As a cafe assistant you will be required to ensure smooth cafe operations, handling tasks from serving customers to maintaining cleanliness. Responsibilities encompass preparing beverages, managing cash transactions and delivering exceptional customer service. Staff are also expected to present a positive and professional image of the organisation when interacting with clients, family members, advocates, service providers, funding bodies and the general community.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food and drink preparation, including taking orders, brewing coffee and preparing food items
  • Maintain cleanliness of the cafe, including wiping tables, sweeping floors and taking out rubbish
  • Provide excellent customer service, including greeting customers, answering questions and resolving customer complaints
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions
  • Maintain stock inventory and appropriate levels of supplies
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up and cleaning equipment
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for customers and employees
  • Assist with other duties as needed, including helping with events or catering orders
  • Ensure all health and safety and environmental health standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Ensuring that food preparation areas and appliances are kept in clean, working condition and report any faults with appliances
  • Report all Work Health and Safety issues
  • Working alongside our supported employees by providing assistance, encouragement, guidance and motivation to achieve their goals

This is a casual position based at our café in Bowraville, with occasional shifts required at our Kempsey café. The successful applicant must be available to work Monday to Friday. The pay rate will be negotiated based on the candidate’s skills and qualifications.

About you:

  • At least 2 year’s experience in the hospitality sector
  • Certificate in Hospitality and/or Barista making
  • Must have awareness of hygiene, health and safety during food preparation and cooking
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all physical requirements of the position
  • Experience in the disability or aged care sector
  • First aid certificate
  • Must have Driver’s License
  • Must show empathy and compassion
  • Knowledgeable on mobile phone and computer use
